City Look to Improve Defence

With defence being a bit of a weak spot this year for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, City are reportedly interested in aquiring Tottenham left-back, Danny Rose.

Rose, who has really stepped up his game this year, has impressed Pellegrini to the point where he now wants him to be the starting left-back at the Etihad next season.

The left-back position has been a bit of a soft spot for the Blues, as Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy have not played up to expectations this year.

Meanwhile, Rose has been a force on the backline for Tottenham this season and City are willing to start the bid for him at £12m, although that figure will likely not be enough.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is known for getting the most amount of money possible for all of his transfers, so aquiring Rose will likely require in the neighborhood of £15m.

England international manager Roy Hodgson has been equally impressed with the defence-man, even giving Rose the nod to play for England earlier this year. Rose was hurt and couldn’t suit up, but the fact that Hodgson gave him the opportunity speaks to Rose’s improvement.

City are looking to substantially mix up their squad in anticipation of next year’s season. Rose would be a solid addition to a Blues team that struggled to play D this year.
