Manuel Pellegrini’s future as Manchester City’s boss has been questioned all year, but reports today have suggested that the Chilean manager will survive the up and down campaign put forth by he and his club.

Despite wining the Premier League last year, Pellegrini has been the subject of swirling rumours all year that have insinuated that the manager should be sacked.

However, following a string of poor performances in March and April, Pellegrini has his squad back to playing the type of football that allowed them to win the title last season.

City currently hold the second place position in the standings and they are the favourites to finish there behind Chelsea who have already won the Premier League earlier this month.

With the end-of-season review looming, the recent stretch of quality football may have bought Pellegrini one more season at the Etihad.

Pellegrini will have no excuses next year. City have indicated that they are fully prepared to splash the cash after falling short of the crown this year.

Reports indicate that the Blues are targeting many top notch players this summer, including the top prize in all of football, Paul Pogba.

If the manager does indeed survive the year without getting the boot, he will need to spend the club’s money wisely and produce next year if he wants to avoid being sacked next year.
