YaYa Toure is expected to undergo a series of tests to examine his injured hamstring that forced him off in City’s 3-2 win against Aston Villa.

The midfielder went down with the injury before the halftime whistle and was replaced at the half by Fernandinho.

Fernandinho went on to secure a City win with a 89th minute goal.

In his postgame presser, Manuel Pellegrini said that the Ivorian midfielder was not replaced as a precaution. The hamstring injury appears to be a serious one.

The 31-year-old Toure has endured a relatively poor season which has contributed to numerous rumours of his departure at seasons end. The sub-par season, along with the on-going rumours, have put Toure at odds with the City fans.

City fans at the Etihad reportedly cheered when they heard of their vice-captain’s departure at the half. To make matters worse for Toure’s relationship with the supporters, Fernandinho, his replacement, went on to score the winning goal for the Blues.

An Etihad exit appears more than likely for Toure as the season comes to the final leg. The midfielder is growing older and appears to be having a hard time avoiding the rehab room.
