City’s 2-0 victory over West Ham on Sunday was pivotal as the Blues were able to finally right the ship after being out-of-form for a good month and a half of football, however the win came with a bit of a scare.

Midfielder David Silva was brought to the ground by a nasty elbow to the face from West Ham player, Cheikhou Kouyate. The Spaniard was down for about eight minutes before eventually being placed on a stretcher and removed from the pitch.

While the playmaking midfielder was taken to the hospital for further examination, tests revealed no significant damage and he returned to training on Tuesday.

With City’s already long list of key injuries, this is great news for manager Manuel Pellegrini. City have a key matchup on Saturday with a scorching Aston Villa club who have been playing unbelievably great football of late, coming off of their FA Cup semi-final victory over Liverpool last weekend.

At this point, the Blues are just trying to desperately maintain their fourth position and secure a Champions League qualification. A win over Villa would be a big step towards that goal.

Silva’s return to training is a huge weight off of Pellegrini’s shoulders. City will need every hand, or foot, they can get as a hot Villa squad will likely give them all they can handle at Ethiad Stadium come Saturday.
