Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has revealed that he is eager to keep Aleksandar Kolarov at the club.

The Serbian left-back played a bit-part role in the Etihad Stadium club’s Premier League winning campaign in 2011-12, with the signature of Gael Clichy restricting the eastern European defender’s opportunities in the first-team.

Both Juventus and Inter have been heavily linked with a move for Kolarov this summer, with City thought to be keen to reduce their wage bill and balance the books.

Despite this, Mancini has confessed that Kolarov may well still have a part to play at the Etihad Stadium.

“Kolarov? He is a great left-back and I would like to keep him,” the Italian coach told Sky Sport 24, translated to English by Mirror Football.

“We have very good players and there many clubs interested in them, which means that we have done our jobs well.

“We know Kolarov’s value well and we want to keep him,” he concluded.
